Half of us are living the unlived lives of our mothers – and that’s only because the other half are men. Why is it so important that we write as women? As a mother of three sons, I know how those little male people can take a piece of bread and chew it into the shape of a gun and try to shoot you. And also cry and care for their baby dolls same as their girlfriends. With each wave of feminism washing over us, we are learning. And, though each new day is a fresh start, we can pay attention to our ancestor’s histories in order to honor them. Looking backward to our grandmother’s stories helps us to be more clear about our own as we move forward in our lives.
